COVID-19 UPDATE 25 November

The Department of Health has released the latest Visitor Access Code (VAC) which provides guidelines for visitation within Residential Aged Care Facilities.

There are now three Tiers . 1 = lowest risk, 2 = medium risk, 3 = highest risk. The items listed below are Tier 1 ( our current level). If there is a change in community transmission then the Tier will increase and restrictions will be tightened.

Tier 1

What are the changes?

No booking is required for visitation during the hours of Mon – Fri, 9am – 4pm. If you wish to visit outside of these hours please contact reception to make a booking.

Upon arrival, you will be asked to complete a declaration. Failure to complete the declaration will result in your visitation being refused.

All visits must still take place in a resident’s room or designated outdoor area. Social Distancing is to be observed. Two visitors at any one time. There is no time restriction on visits. You are no longer required to be escorted for the visit.

When leaving the facility, visitors are asked to leave the room and proceed directly to the front exit. You are requested not to visit other residents while leaving.

What about on weekends?

To ensure that COVID-19 prevention measures we will still have bookings for the weekends 10am – 4.30pm. Please be aware that there may be a delay in facilitating your entry on the weekend. We ask that while you are waiting for staff to attend that you adhere to Social Distancing measures in the foyer.

I work during the visiting hours is there any other option?

Please contact Anna Ross to discuss alternative times.

Can I take my mum out?

Yes, to small family gatherings at a family member’s premises, an outdoor venue, or a venue with strict Covid screening ie; a club. Please avoid Shopping centres or venues where controlled Social Distancing is difficult.

What about Christmas ?

If you are taking your relative home for Christmas we will ask that you complete a questionnaire and ensure that Social Distancing practices are followed.

Unfortunately due to current requirements, we will not be holding a resident/family Christmas party this year as we have in years past. We will be holding a smaller celebration with the residents only.

Should you have any questions about any of the above please speak with either Anna Ross or myself. In addition to this, further information can be obtained from OPAN (Older Persons Advocacy Network) on 1800 700 600.

We thank you for your understanding and appreciate your support in reducing the risk of COVID-19 entering our facility.
